I need you, not in order to stay alive,
but to be fully human: to be affectionate, funny,
Playful, Generous. How generous is my capacity for love
If there is no one for me to love, to laugh with,
To treat tenderly, to be trusted? I can love an idea
Or a vision, but I cannot throw my arms around it.
Nor can the soft warmth be felt. Unless there is someone
Whom I can give my gifts, in whose hands I can entrust
My dreams, who will forgive my deformities and
Aberrations. Who will offer nurturance and comfort?
In those dark times we all encounter. Who will know my
Fears, yet still share strength. Without these and so many
Other dynamics of a genuine relationship I inch closer to
Being a thing, a gadget that performs but has no music.
I know it is difficult to be open, honest, caring, and
Genuinely warm. The opposite is unthinkable, without
Love and human contact, I am insolated, and I lose
Opportunity and fullness of self. I must love in order
To be whole and healthy.

Let us love together, neither one ahead nor behind,
equal but still distinct.
Together sharing the views and changes in time,
confronting the challenges.
Let us love together, an open and sincere invitation,
without agenda or facade.
Two paths convergent, a unique opportunity to learn,
grow and to enrich each other.
Let us love together, knowing the heart, mind, and soul
hidden treasures all but all are open
Revealed with time in a trust that would grow constantly,
deeper and breadth
Let us love together, not losing our precious individuality,
ever uniquely stronger fortified in the caring
Rather to enrich each other, with warmth and generosity,
a sum greater than the parts
Let us love together through times of trouble and confusion,
with two souls sharing and rejoicing in the victories
Two strengths welded, stronger than either alone,
a synergy of divergent selves.
Let us love together, together much stronger that two separately
rising to challenges and opportunities.
Winning together what nether could achieve alone,
commitment to mutual reinforcement
Let us love together to the journey’s unseen end,
knowing each other deeply.
Enfolding the journey as a victory in itself, few
have dared even less achieved.
Let us love together, acknowledging risk and challenge,
personal and external.
Yet to not love makes no sense whatever, loving opens
the journey a bold and wondrous risk
Let us love together my hand is outstretched, my heart
open with hope.
Is the journey worth the risk? I believe it is. The treasures
uncertain, but in my heart - significant.
